Copper Canyon Academy
Equestrian Therapy

Copper Canyon Academy offers a full program of Equestrian Therapy, also known as Equine Assisted or Animal Assisted Therapy. This program is especially valuable to younger students, students who have a history of not responding well to traditional therapy, and to students with attachment/bonding issues. The Equine Therapy program is included in your daughter's tuition and is offered in addition to the existing individual and group therapy.

Stage Four: Action

This is the stage when your daughter believes she has the ability to change her behavior and is actively involved in taking steps to change her problem behavior by using the skills she is learning at Copper Canyon Academy girls’ boarding school.

This is considered the shortest of the stages. The amount of time your daughter spends in action varies. It generally lasts about six months. This is a stage when students most depend on their own willpower. They are making significant efforts to change, but they are also at greatest risk for relapse.

Your daughter will be reviewing her commitment to herself and developing plans to deal with both personal and external stresses that may lead to slip-ups, or relapse. Students in this stage are open to receiving help and are also likely to seek support from others. The support of a community is a very important element of change.
