Copper Canyon Academy
Equestrian Therapy

Copper Canyon Academy offers a full program of Equestrian Therapy, also known as Equine Assisted or Animal Assisted Therapy. This program is especially valuable to younger students, students who have a history of not responding well to traditional therapy, and to students with attachment/bonding issues. The Equine Therapy program is included in your daughter's tuition and is offered in addition to the existing individual and group therapy.

Activities

In addition to the college-prep academic program, students at Copper Canyon Academy can participate in school-sponsored extracurricular activities and off-campus trips that promote further academic and personal growth.
Students and staff work together as a team to foster a community of warmth, respect, mutual cooperation, friendship, and leadership. Students participate in activities that teach healthy social skills and interaction in the community, such as movies, bowling, going out to dinner, local sporting events, supervised youth dances and events, and other fun and healthy local events.
Each student has the opportunity to develop new skills by:

  • Leading a community service project
  • Developing budgeting skills
  • Planning, preparing, and serving a meal
  • Planting a garden
  • Working on arts and crafts projects
  • Developing a resume

Off-Campus Trips

During the summer, Copper Canyon Academy students foster an appreciation for the arts at the Utah Shakespearean Festival.

Twice a year, Copper Canyon juniors and seniors travel to Washington, D.C. to take part in the Presidential Classroom. This program gives our next generation of civic leaders a chance to observe the federal government at work as students go behind the scenes of our nation's capital. Students participate in seminars and discussions featuring members of Congress, presidential appointees, senior military officials, top business leaders, and journalists. Students also observe the United States Congress in action, visit the renowned sites of our nation's capital, and strengthen their leadership, public speaking, and debate skills.

A Spiritual Connection

Copper Canyon Academy girls’ boarding school encourages students to develop a spiritual connection. Time is set aside each week for students to focus on their individual spirituality through reading, meditating, and journaling. Students are also given the opportunity to participate in religious services through several different denominations each week.

Copper Canyon students participate in service projects to promote self-esteem and a sense of purpose. Hiking and camping excursions give the girls a chance to draw closer to the beauty of nature, allowing time to meditate in the great outdoors.
