The Hunt for Amanda

On Tuesday, February 7, 2006, Dr. Phil selected Copper Canyon Academy to help sixteen-year-old runaway Amanda with her defiant behavior. When Amanda's parents accept that they cannot manage their daughter on their own, Dr. Phil introduces them to Copper Canyon, which has been called "one of the nation's top therapeutic boarding schools for girls."

Copper Canyon Academy, designed specifically for girls ages 13-17 who need a safe, structured and nurturing environment, is dedicated to assisting families by helping girls develop their self-esteem, self-confidence, self-reliance, and self-management.

Amanda reluctantly agrees that she will willing go to Copper Canyon if that's what her parents want her to do. Through Copper Canyon's unique combination of therapy, academics and life-skills training, Amanda will learn a sense of responsibility and accountability so that when she returns to her family they will be able to reconnect and develop a more healthy relationship.
