Through the Presidential Classroom program, Copper Canyon Academy girls spend one week learning leadership skills, meeting students from other countries and getting a behind-the-scenes look at how the federal government works. They also participate in role-playing exercises (sometimes acting as ambassadors of other countries) and write proposals that are presented at simulated world summit meetings. The Presidential Classroom program is offered to high schools throughout the world and has been around for about 40 years, but Copper Canyon is one of the few therapeutic schools that participates in the program.
Mental
Copper Canyon Academy offers an extremely challenging, fully accredited and innovative academic curriculum and progressive academic credit recovery programs for girls who have fallen behind. Students at our private all girls boarding schools are involved in daily academic classes. Academics are an integral part of the daily residential boarding school schedule. Academic courses are available in the core subjects of English, Social Studies, Mathematics, Science, Health, Physical Education, Computers, and Spanish as well as electives classes, such as Art, PE, Psychology, Speech, Dance, Vocational Studies, and Music.
Students are tested upon admission in the basic areas of Reading, English, Writing, Math, Social Studies, and Science. Students also participate courses to improve learning habits. Opportunities for learning are utilized in every aspect of life at Copper Canyon Academy. Students participate in educational field trips to the wonderful sights around Arizona, Native American ruins, the Grand Canyon, volcanoes, etc. Each field trip provides the students with learning experiences in Science, History, Nature, English Composition, and culture.
