Copper Canyon Academy
Equestrian Therapy

Copper Canyon Academy offers a full program of Equestrian Therapy, also known as Equine Assisted or Animal Assisted Therapy. This program is especially valuable to younger students, students who have a history of not responding well to traditional therapy, and to students with attachment/bonding issues. The Equine Therapy program is included in your daughter's tuition and is offered in addition to the existing individual and group therapy.

Mentorship

Mentorship is a cornerstone of our private school for girls and an integral part of the positive peer culture at Copper Canyon. New students at our all-girls therapeutic boarding school receive a warm welcome from staff and their peers. Since being the “new kid” on campus can be intimidating, we created a Big Sister peer mentorship program for both middle school and high school students.
New students are paired with a mentor who is hand-selected for her by our clinical team. Mentors are advanced students who have demonstrated trustworthiness and good judgment, and who aspire to this type of leadership role. This will be the first of many close friendships your daughter develops at Copper Canyon Academy.
To ensure a smooth transition into our therapeutic boarding school, students coming from a wilderness program or other placement may be contacted by their Big Sister before they arrive on campus. From the moment a student arrives at Copper Canyon, her Big Sister is standing right there to usher her into the therapeutic boarding school experience by:

  • Showing her around campus
  • Introducing her to other students
  • Familiarizing her with the program and schedule
  • Serving as a trusted friend and mentor
