Safety Standards

Copper Canyon Academy considers your child’s safety to be of primary importance.  As a member of the nation’s most comprehensive network of behavioral health programs for youth, Aspen Education Group, we proudly abide by the following safety guidelines:

  • Thorough pre-screening process which includes review of background information, health history and physical and mental status.
  • Therapist completes a QPRT assessment with all new admits during their first meeting after intake, and as needed thereafter.
  • Physical assessment is completed by the RN within two weeks of intake.
  • On campus medical office and sick bay room
  • 24-hour access to medical personnel
  • Medication management
  • Weights and vitals are taken on a weekly basis.  They are tracked and used for early detection and prevention.
  • Daily medical runs as necessary, driven/escorted by CCA staff.
  • Visiting nurse practitioner on a weekly basis.
  • Adolescent Psychiatrist
  • Staff obtains First Aid and CPR certification within 90 days of employment and is required to maintain these certifications as long as they are employed.
  • Disaster Preparedness Plan including evacuation plans and drills.  Fire drills are practiced monthly departmentally and campus-wide quarterly.
  • Well-established, research-backed therapies
  • Accessible communication; all staff in direct care of students have a radio and access to the land line.
